Leveraging the advantages of Kanban and Gamification.
Combining Trello & Habitica!
Habitica is cool for planning my day but it doesn´t provide features for planning projects or more complex tasks. So I need to do this somewhere else. As I really love kanban boards I use Trello for this. I tried 3 different approaches for combining Habitica and Trello.
First I plan my epics/deliverables in Trello and then add the stories/tasks for today to Habitica (short explanation of epics & stories).
Somethimes this is not working for me. Especially when I change my plan for the day this produces time consuming overhead. It definitely can happen when learning that I plan and start to work on a deliverable for subject DBG and when I get stuck I decide to switch to subject OOM to get things done. For this I need a tool that supports that flexibility. In Habitica this would lead to time consuming adaptation of my today list.
So I tryed to only have pomodoro placeholders for time planning and reward.
This is mainly the same as 1 but instead of only adding today´s tasks I add the whole sprint to Habiticas ToDo List. The disadvantage is that a lot of todos will get orange over the sprint. The advantage is that I can just pick an item where I can do some progress and check it without having to adapt the List. As I have very short sprints (< 1 week) this works fine for me and this is my current way of doing.
